Conclusion
In summary, to return to our original research questions, we can conclude that adding a capping soil to tailings does improve plant growth when growing willow. When using different soil types, a 50/50 mixture of peat and forest floor mineral mix soils produce the best plant growth, followed by forest floor then by peat. And finally, we found no evidence that when biochar is added to the top soil, it improves plant growth.
